All students at Oxbridge School took part in this year’s Sports Day, held at the Sai Kung Tang Shiu Kin Sports Ground, with some outstanding performances, teamwork and support on show. The students all rose to the occasion, creating a fantastic atmosphere in support of their houses. At the end of the day, West House was crowned the overall winner!
The day began with an Opening Ceremony and the houses and each competitor were introduced, after a welcome by the Principal, by Mr G who was our excellent commentator throughout the day. The students then proceeded to individual events in their house groups in the six zones around the stadium with events such as Frisbee throw and Zig Zag relay and they had spent the previous weeks perfecting and practising their sporting techniques. All of them competed well, but most importantly they all did so with a smile and with excellent support for their teammates.
After a refreshment break, next up was the long jump and basketball shootout before the Spacehopper races and the 400m Relay. The cheering was deafening as each House got behind their respective athletes with some tremendous times being set on the track as runners gave their all, and impressive distances were jumped. Many Oxbridge parents took part in the traditional Egg and Spoon Races and in a tug of war competition with the school staff! These events were the perfect climax to the events of the day, enjoyed by all and showing the close partnership and family community at Oxbridge.
The Sports Day cup and participant medals were presented on the day, and at our award assembly, medals were presented to all the event winners.
Congratulations to all of our athletes for an inspirational day of sport!
